Peste des petits ruminants (PPR) is a highly contagious viral disease of goats and sheep. It is a natural case of PPR in a goat.
The disease was first described by workers in the Côté d’Ivoire (Gargadennec and Lalanne, 1942), and thereafter in other parts of West Africa in the 1950s and 1960s. It is now recognized as being endemic in large parts of Africa, the Near and Middle East, and Asia (Banyard et al., 2010; OIE, 2020).
