On the occasion, the staff members of SSS gathered together at SSS Foundation Office, Tangail at 8.00 am and hoisted the national flag.

They brought out a rally under SSS banner and reached the Pauro Udyan, Tangail at 8.30 am parading across Mymensingh Road, Old Bus Stand and the Zilla Sadar Road, and offered wreaths at the Martyrs’ Monument, together with different GO-NGOs, political and socio-cultural organizations and representatives of mass media.

Besides, different offices (zone, area and branch) and wings of SSS (SSS-Poura Ideal High School, Sonar Bangla Children Home and SSS Non-govt. Polytechnic Institute) also adopted daylong activities to observe the day with celebration.

The fair was inaugurated 10:00 am. Mr. Md. Zubayer Hossain, Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Madhupur, Tangail were present as the Chief Guest presided over by Mr. Abdul Hamid Bhuiyan, Executive Director, SSS. Simultaneously, Mr. ABM Khairul Alam, Agricultural Extension Officer, Madhupur, Tangail and Mr. Md. Sulaiman Selim, Headmaster, Sunamganj (Garobazar) Public High School spoke at the event as Special Guests, whereas, Mr. Md. Habibur Rahman, Deputy General Manager (Operation), Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) as the Guest of Honor.

At the beginning of the ceremony, Mr. Santosh Chandra Paul, Senior Director (Credit) of SSS, delivered the welcome address. Subsequently, Dr. Md. Azizul Haque, Professor and Head of the Department of Food Technology and Nutritional Science, Mawlana Bhashani University of Science and Technology, Tangail delivered speech as the Keynote Speaker.

Earlier, at 9:00 am, a colorful rally was brought out with the participation of students of Sunamganj Public High School and children of RMTP beneficiaries. Various nutrition and health related activities and products were exhibited at 12 stalls of SSS at the fair. Mr. Prodeep Kumar Sarkar, Focal Person and Senior Program Manager (Agriculture), RMTP, SSS facilitated the overall occasion. At that time, officers and staff of various departments, programs and projects of SSS were present. Very lastly, a quiz competition on nutrition, a drama, dancing and Baul Songs were performed and prizes were distributed among the quiz winners. A total of 14 successful entrepreneurs of SSS got felicitation as well.

 

Mentioned, SSS has been implementing multifaceted programs on poverty alleviation and social development for more than three decades. SSS, as a national-level (fifth in top ten) development organization currently activities in 52 districts through 712 branches with 7,661 devoted employees. One of the integrated development programs of SSS is: modernization of the agro-fishery-livestock sectors, expansion of safe and toxin-free food and nutrition and employment creation. In this regard, SSS has been keeping various projects and programs into application. SSS started the Rural Micro-Enterprise Transformation Project (RMTP) into implementation in four Upazilas of Mymensingh and Tangail Districts–Modhupur, Ghatail, Fulbaria and Bhaluka financed by of PKSF and SSS on 01 February 2022. The intervention of the project is–the cultivation of high-value foreign fruits such as–MD-2 pineapple (Philippine), G-9 banana, rambutan, avocado, coffee, citrus fruits, perennial jackfruit, yellow malta and toxin-free foods production. Besides, the project carries out the activities–providing financial and technical services, organizing training, workshops, field days, and so on.

On this Occasion, the staff members of SSS brought out a rally under SSS banner at 7.30 am from SSS Foundation Office and reached central Shahid Minar of Tangail, parading across Old Bus Stand, Victoria Road and Nirala Mor and chanting the immortal song ‘Amar bhai-er rokte rangano Ekushe February, ami ki bhulite pari…’

The staff members of SSS placed wreaths at the central Shahid Minar, Tangail at 7.45 am, together with different GO-NGOs, political and socio-cultural organizations and representatives of mass media.

Different wings and institutes of SSS (SSS-Poura Ideal High School, Sonar Bangla Children Home and SSS Non-govt. Polytechnic Institute) organized daylong programs on the occasion of International Mother Language Day.

SSS also arranged a feast at lunch for the children of Sonar Bangla Children Home.

On this occasion, a ceremony is organized at SSS Foundation Office Auditorium, Tangail inaugurated by Mr. Abdul Hamid Bhuiyan, Executive Director, SSS on 18 February 2025 at 2:30 pm.

Mr. Satoru Naga, a prominent Japanese writer (Japan), is present as the chief guest presided over by Mr. Kazi Zakerul Moula, Honorable Member of the General Board of SSS, whereas, Japanese citizen Masaru Yamaguchi and Mrs. Tomoka Sugisawa were present as special guests in the event. Among others, Mr. Santosh Chandra Paul, Senior Director (Credit), Mr. Md. Aminul Islam Khan, Joint Director (Audit), Mr. Aditi Arju, Deputy Director and Head of the Department (ECDP), Mr. Shamsul Arefin, Assistant Director (Human Resources and Administration), along with official and staff members of various departments of SSS, scholarship recipients and their guardians are present in the ceremony as well.

Executive Director of SSS Mr. Abdul Hamid Bhuiyan says to the students and parents–there is no alternative to education to eradicate poverty and pull off prosperity. To practice time-be-fitting education and morality is the main factors of development. SSS has been implementing various development and welfare-genial activities since its inception. Of them, one is the education and child development program. SSS has always been by the underprivileged and brilliant students—with providing financial assistance for education, expensive medical treatment and other urgent needs. On the other hand, the scholarship money is small, but its consequence is great. And getting a scholarship is a matter of respect. Proper use of the small amount of scholarship money would play a crucial role for many students to reach the threshold of success. Every established person should provide financial assistance for the development of education, culture and human resources, especially–necessary to provide financial assistance to the underprivileged and meritorious students. I hope–all the students who received scholarship from SSS, after getting established, would contribute financially to the development of society and the extension of education.

The Chairman of the program, Mr. Kazi Zakerul Maula, expresses to the students–students are the future our country. After completing your studies, you would pay your services at various levels of the country. Keep into memory, with our patriotism and proper services, the country would make progress, and the nation would be enriched. For this, everyone has to be a human being and well-educated with integrity–this is our sincere expectation.

At the last stage of the ceremony, 125 students receive Tk. 3,000 (three thousand) per head and total of Tk. 3,75,000 (three lakh seventy-five thousand) as scholarships for the period: January-June 2025.

Mentioned, the scholarship is one of the multi-faceted development programs of SSS. The organization has been providing SSS-Naga Scholarship to the underprivileged and meritorious students since 2003. This scholarship is given twice a year financed by SSS and Mr. Satru Naga jointly. SSS, currently, provides four types of scholarships–SSS-Naga Scholarship, Regular (Monthly) Scholarship, One-time Scholarship and MIF (MRA)-Higher Education Scholarship.

Mrs. Rebeka Sultana, District Education Officer (Tangail) inaugurates the festival ceremony whereas Mr. Satoru Naga, renowned writer of Japan addresses the event as chief guest and Mr. Abdul Hamid Bhuiyan, Honorable Executive Director and Mr. Santosh Chandra Paul, Senior Director (Microfinance) of SSS as special guests, presided over by Mr. Md. Fazlul Karim Khan, Headmaster of SSS-Poura Ideal High School, Tangail.

At the end of the event, the executive director Abdul Hamid Bhuiyan hands over prizes to the winners as well.

Mr. Md. Lavlu Mia Labu, former chairman of Dyenna Union Council inaugurated the ceremony as chief guest presided over by Mr. Md. Jahangir Hossain Khan, Coordinator of Adolescence, NEM and Elderly People Development Programs, SSS. Among others, Assistant Coordinator–Md. Akkel Ali, Chairman of Elderly People Dyenna Union Committee–Muktijoddha Mohir Uddin, Charabari Branch Manager, SSS–Uttam Kumar Roy, Dainya Branch Manager, SSS–Jewel Rana and others were present in the event as well.

There were 10 events under the aforesaid sports and cultural competitions–football, painting, pillow passing, cockfighting, and so on. The sports and cultural competitions would continue for a-month-long in 12 unions—Dyenna, Hugra, Kakua, Mogra, Gala, Gharinda, Kartia, Silimpur, Mamudnagar, Porabari and Baghil of Tangail Sadar Upazila in phases.

Mentioned, SSS has been implementing Adolescence Program in various upazilas of Tangail District to build up a nation with good morals through sound physical and mental development of adolescents since 2019. A total of 216 clubs were formed for boys and girls aged 10-18 with 40 members per club–totaling 8,640 members. A special part of this program is: Sports and Cultural activities.

The Honorable Deputy Commissioner of Tangail Mrs. Sharifa Haque inaugurates the fair on 05 February (Wednesday) at 11 am.

In the fair, SSS demonstrates safe pineapples, threads of pineapple leaves and products of the threads, chemical-free bananas, various chemical-free vegetables, fruits, agro products and technologies under different programs and projects implemented by the organization.

Different government, non-government and social development organizations also participate in the fair. The fair will be placed to end out on 07 February 2025 (Friday).

On January 16, 2025, at 11 am, a winter clothes distribution ceremony was organized at the Dyenna Union Council Auditorium in Tangail Sadar. In the event the former Chairman (Dyenna Union Council) Md. Lavlu Mia Labu was present as the chief guest presided over by the Panel Chairman (Dyenna Union Council) Md. Abu Said Mia. Besides, Program Coordinator (NEM, SSS) Md. Jahangir Hossain Khan, Assistant Coordinator Md. Akkel Ali, Program Officer Saiful Islam, Muktiyaddha Mohir Uddin and SSS Charabari Branch Manager Uttam Kumar Roy and others were present at the ceremony.

Mentioned, SSS has been putting a set of activities for the development of the backward and destitute poor people into implementation since the inception. In particular–the organization is implementing several welfare and people-friendly activities centering the disadvantaged and backward communities of the society. Such as activities is—the Uplifting the Quality of Living Standards of the Elderly People Program, which is kept into action in four unions—Dyenna, Gala, Mogra and Hugra belonging to Tangail Sadar Upazila financed by the organization. During the current winter season, 200 blankets and 200 shawls were distributed among 400 poor elderly people in the aforesaid unions.

It is a sub-project under the SMART (Sustainable Microenterprise and Resilience Transformation) Project.

Mr. Abdul Hamid Bhuiyan, Executive Director of SSS inaugurates the training as chief guest at 10 am. Besides, Mr. Mahbubul Haque Bhuiyan, Senior Director (HRD and Admin) and Santosh Chandra Paul, Senior Director (Microfinance) are present at the inauguration session as special guests. Apart from that, senior officials of SSS, concerned zonal, area and branch managers and staff members of SMART and different departments, sections and projects of SSS are present in the event.

SSS has been implementing the sub-project on “Promoting Sustainable Growth in Poultry Sub-sector through RECP Practices” since 01 October 2024 under 19 branch offices covering 49 unions of Bhuapur, Sakhipur, Pakundia, Katiadi, Sreepur and Kapasia upazilas of Tangail, Kishoreganj and Gazipur districts, financed by the World Bank and PKSF. The target people under the sub-project is 1,500 families.

Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2024 of SSS https://www.sss-bangladesh.org/?p=6726 https://www.sss-bangladesh.org/?p=6726#respond Tue, 15 Oct 2024 07:50:33 +0000 https://www.sss-bangladesh.org/?p=6726 Annual General Meeting 2024 of Society for Social Service (SSS) was held in the conference room of The Palace, Luxury Resort, Habiganj at 10.00 am on 27 September 2024 (Friday).

Mr. Murshed Alam Sarker, Chairperson of SSS executive committee presided over the meeting whereas Mr. Abdul Hamid Bhuiyan, Executive Director of SSS and Member Secretary of the executive committee facilitated the overall meeting at the presence of honorable members of the committee.

Different agenda including proceedings of previous Annual General Meeting (held in 2023), audit report of 2023-24, annual report of 2023-24, annual plan and budget of 2024-25 and the new organogram of SSS were presented and approved in the meeting. The budget of Tk. 17,068.22 crore was proposed and approved in the meeting unanimously.

At the beginning of the meeting, the members performed one minute silence and prayer wishing peace upon disembodied souls of the staffs and members of SSS that passed away in the last year.

Apart from that, other programs and projects implemented by SSS were discussed briefly in the meeting.

The Chairperson of SSS Mr. Murshed Alam Sarker thanked everyone for participating in the meeting and invoked them to stay beside SSS during all adversities and drive SSS to further progress in upcoming days.
